A Thrill of a Different Sort

Chunky's Burgers; Home of the Four Horseman Burger

So far i have described several thrilling experiences around San Antonio that involve going fast, big engines, and high heights. For the last entry in this blog i chose to break from that mold and describe an adrenalin rush of a different sort. I was inspired by a friend who felt up to this challenge around this time last year and he will be the first to tell you, only true daredevils need apply. The experience that i describe is known as the "Four Horseman Challenge" and all that you must do is ingest a hamburger and keep it down. Seems simple, well it isnt. This is the single hottest burger on planet earth, scientifically proven to be so. On top of this half pound patty of meat there are jalapenos, serranos, and a habanero sauce. That is plenty to send me running for the hills because I personally am NOT a fan of spicy. However the real heavy hitter in this foursome of spicy pain is known as the Bhut Jolokia or "The Ghost Chili". This demon pepper belched from the bowels of a pheonix that likely resides in the 7th circle of hell rates over 1 Million on what is known as the Scoville Scale, a scale that rates capsaicin content in substances. The next closest thing on this scale to the Ghost Chili is weapons grade pepper spray. My friend Charlie came back after his attempt in October of last year with the grisly details. After only a few bites he convulsed and vommited so hard that the blood vessels in his eyes burst leaving him with a demonic red glare, and at his insistence no sane human should ever attempt to eat this burger. I am inclined to agree with him, but as it is my duty to inform you all of the craziest things to entertain yourself around the city i was compelled to write about this burger. 4206 Callaghan Road if you dare, i will gladly accompany you for moral support from a distance.
